As mentioned, I am going to be in New Mexico for a week, doing family stuff. I am, however, going to try to not let my dissertation go completely cold. My goal is going to be to write 2500 words of brainstorm about a film about women working on the pipeline, “Feminists in Hardhats.”

This is basically what my entire dissertation leads up to in chapter 5 … the idea of “Feminists in Hardhats.” What is the political meaning of women working in construction? Why is this image so salient in the 1970s? I want to really get thinking about it, so I can be warmed up for finishing chapter 5 and so that as I continue on chapters 3 and 4 I have an idea where it is all headed.
